This Runway To Real World is brought to you by Louis Vuitton’s Pre-Fall 2013 Collection.
Much like its Spring 2013 predecessor, Louis Vuitton has yet again gone the 60s-inspired route, but with a darker, vampy twist. Inspired by the 1968 film, “The Bride Wore Black,” Louis Vuitton’s women’s studio director, Julie de Libran, offset rich deep shades of reds, blues, and oranges with neutral black, beige, & navy. An abundance of overlapping textures and fabrics were employed throughout the entirety of the collection, particularly through the use of lace and current jacquard trend.
Hints of leather were found on skirts while fur played center stage on coats complimented by ultra-feminine fascinators and bowed heels.
Of note: The Louis Vuitton monograms reimagined on the iconic Speedy bag and swing coats.
Overall, this is a solid response to their Spring collection and is impeccable actualized. While the pieces teeter between feminine and masculine almost quasi-androgynous, the classic cuts make them timeless.
Here’s my Real World response:
