Good Morning Peacocks and Peahens!!! I was in Florida visiting my family as we celebrated my nephew’s high school (yes I have a nephew in high school or had I guess now) graduation and my mother’s birthday. I am also anti-public WiFi for paranoid reasons (fact: people can tap into your computer through a public WiFi connection. I don’t have time for that!!!)
Did you miss me because I totally missed you guys!!!
So much so that I will be doing an epic recap of top news from my last proof of life until now. Let’s get to it, shall we?

Kanye West debuts “New Slaves”
On Friday, Kanye West projected his likeness upon 66 various buildings across six countries for the debut of his new single, “New Slaves” off of his upcoming album, “Yeezus.” The song, which was on display in The US, Canada, France, UK, Germany & Australia, rings of the Kanye we all fell in love with when he premiered as an artist long before Kim Kardashian, the Taylor Swift scandal of ’09 and before the passing of Dr. Donda West. Back when Kanye had something to say and wasn’t caught up in his wardrobe. The “Jesus Walks” and “Spaceship” West. The West that at least was worthy of respect even if you weren’t interested in what he was wearing.
The song speaks to modern day slavery; slaves to the almighty dollar, slaves to mainstream zeitgeists, slaves to what you are told to do instead of doing what you want to do, slaves to following the already beaten path instead of straying away to create your own, slavery with invisible chains. Admittedly, I was not interested in the song, especially considering the man behind it, and it would be a falsity to say that I am right now. However, for what the song is worth, the message takes me back to former Kanye and denying the truth he imparts would be an equal falsehood. Please note the Nina Simone/Strange Fruit “blood on the leaves” reference. I appreciate the song and am eager to hear what else he has to say on his album which is shaping up to be very dark, but incredibly raw.

‘Ye also took his talents to the season finale of SNL to premiere another song, “Black Skinhead” from the forthcoming.
Check out his performance of “New Slaves” as well.
New Video: Jennifer Lopez feat. Pitbull, “Live It Up”
Sex kitten, haute couture runway realness is a entree jenny From The Block serves well for her new video, “Live It Up” co-starring Mr. Dade County himself, Pitbull.
From the catwalk in Paris to the beaches of Miami (I presume), Jennifer makes all of us 20-somethings a little jealous of her enviable body in fashions only she could pull off in the Jessy Terrero directed visual. Peep reality show model Eva Marcille and a Bryan Boy look-a-like as well. And doesn’t her coverup look an awful like a certain red carpet dress we dare not mention? Love the song J. Lo!!!

New Music: The Dream Feat. Kelly Rowland, “Where Have You Been”
This summer is turning out to be the season of The Dream as he teams with another member of Destiny’s Child for his new song, “Where Have You Been” featuring Kelly Rowland.
The song has the two singing to one another as the share moments of timeouts in their relationship, but manage to stay together.
The track where be featured on The Dream’s IV Play in stores May 28.
Meanwhile, “Lights Out” tour mates also took their talents to Rowland’s emotional new single, “Dirty Laundry.” Kelly chronicles the real life abuse she encountered at the hands of an ex while feeling a bit envious of her friend Beyonce’s success. The ex even does his best to turn her against Beyonce claiming he loves her more than her childhood friend. She gets down and dirty and brutally honest on the track The Dream assisted in penning.
More in store so stay tuned!!!
