My, my, my, there’s an awful lot of brown star power brewing in the movie theatres!! In addition to Andre 3000 claiming his position as Jimi Hendrix, it appears that other people of color are making waves in the box office upon the oncoming year as well.

The human manifestation of everything that is soooo right in the world also known as Idris Elba will tackle the heavyweight role of anti-apartheid leader, Nelson Mandela in The Long Walk To Freedom. In the teaser, you see a man paving a path through greenery as children joyfully follow as you listen along to Idris give serious Mandela realness.

“No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin. People learn to hate. They can be taught to love. For love comes more naturally than the human heart.”

The Long Walk To Freedom, in theaters January 3, 2014.

I don’t recall a time that I’ve seen Jamie Foxx play a villain, but if the trailer is any indication of his capabilities, we’re in for a real treat!

In the next installment in the The Amazing Spiderman 2 franchise, Foxx undergoes an “electrifying” transformation to become super villain, Electro.  Holy smokes, Batman, errr, Spiderman!!

The Amazing Spiderman 2 sees the light of day April 17, 2014.

The film adaptation of author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie best selling novel, Half Of A Yellow Sun, stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Thandie Newton, Anika Noni Rose, John Boyega, and Genevieve Nnaji chronicling the lives of two affluent sisters, Olanna and Kainene, who try to navigate love and heartbreaking during the Nigerian civil war. Though I have not read the book, I am so fascinated that I am certainly adding it to my list of books to read this summer!!

Half Of A Yellow Sun will also premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival this September.
