Word Of The Day: Waiting For The Other Shoe To Drop


“Waiting for the other shoe to drop” apparently stems from the late-19th/early-20th century New York tenement architecture. Each apartment, much like today, was setup with the bedrooms right above each other. It was normal occurrence to hear your upstairs neighbor take off their shoe and thus expect to hear the other.

Waiting for the inevitable to occur and/or defer making a decision to another situation is finished.
