Good Lord, it felt like this day would never come!!! Place those peepers on the first promotional poster of Angelina Jolie as she she steps into the title role of Disney’s forthcoming feature film, Maleficent.
I have always been drawn to the villains in fairy tales. No I’m not some evil wicked witch disguised as a human manifestation of a Peacock (though I’m sure there are some that would disagree). I simply find the back stories of antagonist characters more intriguing with far more depth than the oh-so-sappy heroes.
The film, slated for summer 2014 release is told from Maleficent’s perspective which only further piques my interest. Jolie tells E! Online why she chose to accept the role of the “Mistress of All Evil”:
“I was terrified of her, but I was so drawn to her,” she said. “She had this elegance and grace, and yet she was so cruel. Just wonderfully and deliciously cruel.”
I am here, here, here for it!
Elle Fanning stars as Princess Aurora (Sleeping Beauty’s government name), but more interestingly, Jolie’s daughter Vivienne will play a young Maleficent in the movie.
“Vivienne was the only 4-year-old who didn’t scream when she saw me,” she joked. That’s probably a big part of why little Viv was cast to play young Maleficent in the movie!”
