Featured Artist Wednesday: Get to Know Emanuel De’Anda

photo 2

“I will never forget the first time I performed in front of a crowd. It was the most exhilarating
experience ever. I knew at that very moment, that was it for me. I wanted to be a star…”

-Emanuel De’Anda

With vocals easy to fall for, Emanuel De’Anda is the latest member of Featured Artist Wednesday.

Inspired by such artists as Donny Hathaway and Marvin Gaye, the Pittsburgh native with  the velvety voice began his venture into the music industry in high school  as a member of the group, “Crave.” During his inclusion in the group,  De’Anda saw some success with significant spins on the local radio airwaves before signing with the R&B/Hip Hop group, “Pretty Ricky” under the pseudonym “Lingerie” in 2008.

His latest feature on the FOE Boyz new single, “Upgrade” is spinning all over the interweb with 721 plays on Soundcloud, and is currently available on iTunes.

We’re sure great things are to come for Emanuel De’Anda. Be sure to check out the official Emanuel De’Anda Facebook page for upcoming events and new music.

Featured Artist Wednesdays: Get To Know Teesh Tha Writer

Though I’ve featured my former In The Circle cast member Teesh Tha Writer before, I would be remorse if I did not highlight her talents on Featured Artist Wednesdays.

The 28 year old songwriter/rapper has made quite the splash with her new single, “A** City,” a party track that can easily hold its own with the creations of Waka Flocka Flame, Young Jeezy and the like.

Hailing from the beautiful Garden State, Teesh’s musical inclinations  run the gamut of urban music appeal.

Whether you’re a Nicki Minaj or Meek Mill fan, Teessh provides a little of everything for every taste palate.

So if you’re looking for car crunk ready verses or a true lyricist, look no further.

Check out Teesh Tha Writer’s “A** City,” and keep an eye out  for her All On The Line EP coming soon. See her official Facebook for more album details.

Featured Artist Wednesdays: Get To Know J. Prophet

It’s May 1, so you know what that means?! The first inclusion in our Featured Artist Wednesday segment brought to you by songwriter/lyricist, J. Prophet.

The Mt. Vernon resident rapper delivers a unique blend of  “Jesus-oriented message of love and freedom into jazz inspired, soul-infused and gospel-informed hip-hop.” The religiously and socially conscious microphone checker, who has shared the stage with Lupe Fiasco, picks up the mantel where his predecessors left off, adding his own edge with a level of modernity and musical relatability to a courageous statement of higher purpose.

Prophet’s rhythm and rhymes serve to assist in the creation of faith in the hearts of inner-city youth.  When it comes to the flesh of his music, the lyrics, the content is deeply rooted in “his beliefs but he’s also building with projects related to his community of belief.”

The Yale University graduate is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity while simultaneously pursuing his dreams of elevating others to a  faith driven life.

Check out J.Prophet’s “I Got Bread” EP dropping today!!!

Video: Destra and Machel, “Carnival”

I am going to blame a certain friend of mine for putting the thought of Carnival in my head. Oh, to be far away from my dreadful job on a glorious beach with great drinks, good friends, and amazing music.*sigh*

This Friday’s music choice goes to “Carnival” by Soca singer Destra featuring Machel.

Hey, if I can’t be there physically, I can damn sure be there mentally. Can I get an Amen?!!!!!

Video quality is awful, but sound is on point!!!

Episode One: Epic Day, “Six Years Later…”

Quality internet shows are hard to come by. Series like The Misadventures of an Awkward Black Girl and The Unwritten Rules  are diamonds and the rough.

That’s why I am pleased to introduce you to “Epic Day“, a Crizlassic Production.

The Mini-Series involves a group of friends that separate after their 2006 high school graduation party goes awry, allowing Brain to fulfill his dreams but disassociating himself from his crew at the same time.

” With the sudden reemergence of Brian Dunn, they find themselves bumping into each other. Can Brian truly bring them together with a “Re-union Party” or could things get much worse?”

Written and directed by Cris Thorne, the cast includes Brandon Lavon Hightower, Sylvia Nicole, Desmond Thorne, & my always funny sister Whitney Peaks!!!!

Be sure to stay tuned here for every episode plus much more!!! Make everyday, an Epic Day.
