First Look: H&M Spring 2014 Collection

H&M Spring 2014 RTW Collection

We all know I am a sucker for high end designs recreated at mid tier prices. I mean, it’s the best of both worlds. Function, form and finance!

After revealing the fall collection amidst Paris Fashion Week, H&M has found a home stateside with the premiere of the Spring 2014 Ready-To-Wear lineup during New York Fashion Week.

New Music: Beyonce, “Standing On The Sun”

I have no idea how long this will be available for your unofficial listening pleasure. In the interim, we are riding with it!!!

Here is the full length version to Beyonce’s, “Standing On The Sun.”

The second of the star’s commercial vocals, the first being “Grown Woman” for Pepsi, the latter found in her “Beyonce As Mrs. Carter In H&M” collection, is really fun and tropical and makes you excited for summer lovin’.

The song was written by singer/songwriter, Sia.

I am sure there is more to the song since she performed a rap reggae-like bridge while performing on the Antwerp, Sportpaleis leg of the Mrs. Carter Show World Tour.

Beyonce is really pussy footing. I guess with Kanye and Jay-Z and the crew dropping a million albums right now, not pushing hers will give her time to get her shine on. Okay Beyonce.

Lord Jesus, It’s A Fire!!! Isabel Marant To Design A Collection For H&M!!!!!

The woman that saved my life with her wedge sneakers is taking her God-given talents to Hennes & Mauritz. Isabel Marant is the latest designer to head a collection for H&M.

The designer whose wares feature a “no muss, no fuss” take on Parisian rock ‘n’ roll sexiness will partner with the mid tier retailer on a line of separates and accessories for women, children and men, Marant’s first enterprise into menswear and children’s looks. The pieces can be mixed and matched upon one’s own personal sense of style, another typicality of Isabel’s aesthetic.

“I am flattered… H&M works with the best designers, and this invitation is an exciting honor. I aim at creating something real – something women want to wear in their everyday lives – with a certain carefree style. I think this is very Parisian: You dress up, but don’t pay too much attention to it, and you still look sexy. The collection is infused with this kind of easiness and attitude. Everything can be combined following one’s own instincts, and my take on fashion is all about personality.”

The line will include 20 pieces for men with five accessories while the range for kids will vary with 30 items of clothing and 10 accessory choices.

Margareta van den Bosch, creative advisor for the Swedish brand sees Marant’s eye for detail as the nucleus for her much deserved success.

“We are very pleased to have Isabel Marant as a guest designer. Her manner to combine different elements of their collections, creating a laid-back, urban style, helps it to be very modern. She feels the ethnic motifs and has the rare ability to create clothes that people really want to wear. We are confident that  H&M’s buyers enthusiastically welcomed this collection.”

In the clip below, Marant waxes about her designs and the French “look” we’ve grown to love.

“Paris inspires me. I’m a very representative French girl. I think my clothes speak better about me than anything.”

This is, by far, one of the best collaborations for H&M. Not saying the others weren’t magnificent, but Marant and H&M make a great deal of sense. Their styles run parallel.

The collection will be available in 250 stores worldwide November 14, 2013.

First Look: H&M Fall/Winter 2013-2014 Collection Lookbook

Though Summer has yet to grace us with its presence, Fall and Winter will quickly blast us right back out of sunny delirium. Dismal truth to living in the Northeast. LOL

As is,  inspired by Louis XIV, H&M debuted their first French collection this February during Paris Fashion Week.

And though the collection reminds me more of matadors than macarons, the collection is a lovely assemblage of pieces that I am sure will please all whose eyes .

It’s all about the details for these styles as theycome packed to capacity with fringe, tassels, floral cutouts, and sequin.

Included is this fringe covered clutch that reminds me of an abbreviated version of Carrie’s Fendi bag circa Burger.

I adore these fringe covered pants as well though definitely for someone with with an inconceivable amount of style. They are center stage worthy and to be pared down with a simple camisole and barely there shoe.

Again, I can’t help but connect to fashion’s past: is this not Mr. Michael Jackson and his “Rock With You” era?

This low-hi sequin sweatshirt though? *puts on must-have list*

Men’s and Sportswear inspired jackets are tailored to Utopian standards. Overcoats and vests are the perfect complement to whimsical dresses perfect for Spring and Fall (and the Tango. I’m just saying lol)

H&M Enlists Plus-Size Model As New Face Of Beachwear Collection

Opting to boldly though silently change the pace of things, H&M has made plus-size model Jennie Runk the new poster model for their Beachwear collection, and she looks fantastic.

Fuchsia body conscious dress, black high waist bikini and one piece bathing suits fashioned out of the same tie dyed prints as seen here are on call this year with crochet sweaters and shorts in between.

But unlike the usual dog and pony show the fashion world tends to put on when it comes to incorporating plus-sizes, H&M just went along their merry way with no official press releases or statements in the most matter-of-fact manner to date.  Impressive H&M. Impressive.

First Look: Behind The Scenes Of “Beyonce As Mrs. Carter In H&M” Campaign

You can pretend all you’d like that Beyonce isn’t an impressive superstar, but you cannot deny the sheer beauty of her “Beyonce As Mrs. Carter In H&M” television ad campaign. Definitely music video ready, the commercial is really amazing.

“It’s incredibly unique to have Beyoncé for a campaign. It doesn’t get bigger than that. Of course we have to do something which excites her as well as us,”

says Donald Schneider, H&M creative director. It took a great deal of work and energy to get all of the t’s crossed and i’s dotted, with the hopes of creating an aesthetically breathtaking production.

“We have a fantastic creative team who came up with this idea to incorporate the elements; earth, wind, fire and water – to create drama and make something just visually stunning.”

Fun Fact: Beyonce had to “learn the choreography in five minutes.” Could you tell?

Here’s the final product:
